Thank you for the privilege of serving as MPI-WI Chapter President for the 2011-12 term. MPI-WI is the premier association in the State dedicated to the growth, development and success of event and meeting professionals, so the role of president is both an enormous challenge and a great honor.
To the past presidents, board members and committee volunteers who believe in the organization by giving of their talents: I wish to thank you all for laying the ground work for our future success. My humblest appreciation is given to the team at Morgan Data Solutions for their professionalism and guidance; and I am elated MDS recently agreed to support the chapter for another three years.
Together with the 2011-12 Board of Directors, I am dedicated to providing members with many opportunities to gain a return on their investment in MPI. We encourage our members to make MPI-WI Chapter a priority this year by attending the MPI programs that provide a platform for professional development; enhance business and social relationships through a strong and dedicated community; and take advantage of the many professional services and tools to perform at a higher level.
Our chapter is strong with nearly 60% of our member who are planners and faculty. Add to this the growing planner base in MPI’s national and international community, and our supplier members are provided with a vehicle to connect to more business opportunities within a global marketplace.
I would encourage you to tap into the MPI community by visiting our Chapter and International websites often for updates on events, job listings, industry resources and current trends. Join MPI-WI Chapter on Facebook and LinkedIn; and follow the Chapter and chapter members on Twitter for interesting insights. Share your AGENDA newsletter with colleagues and key stakeholders within your organization to gain support for your involvement in MPI-WI chapter.
Lastly, I encourage you to “BUY
MPI” and “SELL
MPI.” The
Economic Significance of Meetings
to the U.S. Economy study reveals that the U.S. meetings industry directly supports 1.7 million jobs, $263 billion in spending, a $106 billion contribution to GDP, $60 billion in labor revenue, $14.3 billion in federal tax revenue and $11.3 billion in state and local tax revenue.
With the country looking for effective ways to work its way out of a recession, MPI members play a critical role in supporting our industry in Wisconsin and across America. Seek out suppliers who are MPI members, support each other by referring business, fill job vacancies with MPI candidates, share the importance of CMP and CMM programs, and be proud of your membership by recruiting others to join.
We have much to accomplish and I look forward to partnering with each of you to provide value to the members and the meetings industry.
Kindly,
Susan Kainz
