Open Space - Increasing Understanding of
Meetings as an Essential Business Tool

Terri Breining
Terri Breining

Open Space is an emergent trend and dialogic method where a facilitator convenes from ten to 2000+ participants for dynamic, participant-driven dialogue.  Open Space can be used for bringing together an entire company to highlight emergent issues and opportunities before strategic planning, generating ideas, sharing resources and best practices, understanding each other across cultures, sharing knowledge across disciplines, and engaging groups from small to large in seeing a full-systems perspective for their opportunities or issues.  Participants facilitate their own discussions, documentation and noting of linkages and common threads.

This session will demonstrate the Open Space process, while providing specific dialogue for members of the Wisconsin Chapter on the topic of Increasing Understanding of Meetings as an Essential Business Tool.

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach Team is seeking your help, as we continue our efforts toward supporting Wisconsin’s children! At the March meeting, we will support Camp HOPE for Kids. Camp HOPE is a wonderful place in central Wisconsin where children and teenagers gather to work through the grieving process after a loved one dies. The camp gently guides the children and teenagers through the complex emotions by showing them that they are not alone. The Camp, a non-profit organization, is offered twice a year and is free to campers. In order to continue offering the Camp at no charge, the Camp relies greatly on in-kind and monetary donations.

Camp HOPE’s current wish list includes many seasonal and arts & crafts donations, including:

  • Winter mittens/hats (for those who don't bring any)
  • Snow pants (we have kids of all sizes who don't bring them or don't have any)
  • Sleeping bags (same reasons)
  • Fishing poles and equipment
  • Kleenex
  • Flashlights and batteries
  • White tee shirts and dyes for tie dying - all sizes and dyes
  • Art supplies like paper, unique sets, pens, pencils, markers
  • Balloons, string
  • Tape

Please consider bringing an in-kind of this type to the March Meeting in Wauwatosa! Monetary donations are also accepted and appreciated. Checks can be made out to Camp HOPE. For more information on Camp HOPE, please visit www.camphopeforkids.org.
