Featured Volunteers
Volunteering is very important
to the Wisconsin MPI Chapter
and this organization is made
strong by our volunteers and
their dedication each month and
throughout the year. It
is also essential for all of
us to recognize these individuals
and the teams that make our chapter
stand out! Each month we will
be recognizing members that volunteer
for the chapter-whether it be
someone helping for the first
time, or a veteran of the chapter,
we want to know about it! Please
forward volunteer recognition
information to Linda Hale at lhale@theleague.coop. We
want to know what you are seeing
and doing!

What can you say about a true leader and volunteer that steps right into the fire when needed? Well, Michelle Eggert did precisely this when she jumped into the role as the Team Lead for the February event. With less than 3 months prior to the function, the team of Kat Hughes and Susan Patton managed to raise over $6,000 for the continuing education of our Chapter.
Just some of the items that Michelle oversaw for the event included retaining two sponsors, developing an Excel timeline for future fundraising teams to follow, managing the process when three committee members could not participate due to work constraints, marketing the event so it was highly attended by suppliers as well as planners, and so much more.
The event was a fun mix of a Silent Auction, the Raffle, and the Sealed with a Kiss Contest with over 90 people in attendance for the evening. Great job, Michelle!

The December Team was charged
with creating a festive feel
for our monthly meeting as well
as raising money for the Chapter. If
anyone remembers this week, the
weather tried to play havoc with
a large amount of snow and bitter
temperatures. But of course
this team pressed on and provided
the Chapter with an afternoon
of learning and an evening filled
with fun and flappers! A good
time was had by everyone that
attended.
Please take the time to thank
the committee members and the
roles they assumed for this meeting. Wanda
Gilles provided a detailed description
of the duties that were performed.
Carmen
Smalley – Our Board
member that was a key member
in helping us get in contact
with the MATC students and kept
us moving along for sponsors
and all aspects of the event.
Patricia
Kemner – handled
the Silent Auction items
Tracey Bockhop – handled
the Raffle items
Vicki Zacharias – team
member who worked closely with
Speakers and Events R Us on the
room and theme and was very key
in moving our process along for
the fund raising portion of the
event. Vicki had the fund
raising experience from other
years and brought us her experience,
which was very much needed for
a team that didn’t realize
this was a fund raiser and how
to go about it.
Tina Luther – Team member
and our location person – she
worked closely with Speakers
and Events R Us on the entire
set-up and process. Tina
was key to getting our entire
event off the ground and running.
MATC Students – they helped
us with sourcing of items that
we wanted to use for the event
and they also did some card dealing
for us at the tables so that
we didn’t have to pay for
dealers.

Our Co-editors of the Agenda
are truly an asset to our organization. Jennifer
Hallett and Michelle Reed work
tirelessly throughout the year
ensure our membership is well
informed and educated. The
next time you see these two wonderful
ladies, please make sure to say
thank you for the work they do
behind the scenes.
Here is what Shannon Timmerman
had to say about her team:
“Jennifer Hallett and
Michelle Reed have been an amazing
asset to the Agenda newsletter
as co-editors. They are
both very dedicated to their
volunteer role, and put a lot
into it. If there is space
that needs to be filled, they
are quick to come up with solutions,
even it if it means taking more
of their time to write another
article to fill the space. They
also compliment each other very
well, taking turns as the lead
on each issue, but each offering
full support and assistance when
needed. And they
always do so with a positive
attitude, even when we are under
the gun with deadlines.
I have been working with the
Agenda as part of my Board position
for just under a year now, and
they have been amazing to work
with. They helped me a
lot when I first came on to help
me understand how everything
works, and they are always on
top of every issue, so I never
have to worry about anything. The
Agenda does take a lot of time
commitment for a volunteer role,
which makes their time and effort
they put in that much more appreciated.”

This month we are recognizing
the Community Outreach Team for
the nomination they have received
for the International RISE Award. This
award recognizes chapters and
other communities for demonstrated
achievement in making human connections
through knowledge and ideas. The
recipient will have displayed
innovation and creativity in
the development, planning and
execution of ground breaking
initiatives. Our Chapter
Business Manager, Stuart Taylor,
nominated the Community Outreach
Team for this award. A
big Thank You to Sue Lidstrom
and the remarkable team consisting
of Sue Zimmerman, Jennifer Hallett,
Amanda Bauer, Kim Jones, Annette
Konicek, Ronny Hill, Wanda Gilles,
and Tracey Bockhop for the achievements
that took place last year.
Our volunteer of the month
for January is Matt Baumler,
Student Member Care team lead,
is being recognized for his efforts
in increasing the student attendees
at the November Midwest Conference
from 2 to 12! He made sure
the students’ time was
beneficial and added value to
their experience by also setting
up a group tour through the exhibit
area. What a great networking
opportunity for all involved. Students
also participated in donating
their time to the Casino night
for our December gathering.
