October, 2010 – SHARE- Mitten Plus Project
About SHARE - Mitten Plus Project This
project is made up of volunteer
knitters, crocheters, and sewers
that meet and create beautiful handmade
hats, scarves, and mittens for those
that cannot afford to purchase them.
They donate these items to shelters,
schools, nursing homes, halfway
houses and other similar places.
With Winter here this could really
help to bring some cheer and help
keep people warm.
What is needed: We will be
collecting any color of 4 ply yarn,
but it must be either worsted, Caron,
or Red Heart Super Saver yarn. So
while you are out and about shopping
please grab a spool of yarn and
bring it to the MPI meeting on January
6th. If you have any questions
feel free to contact Justine Alexander
at justinealexander@sixtitles.com or
608-213-9238.
October, 2010 – Happily Ever
After Animal Sanctuary
The
MPI-WI Community Outreach program sponsored
the Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill
facility. Tons of items were donated by our
generous members, including: towels, sheets,
bleach, dog and cat food, treats and more. They
were extremely excited to see all of the items!
Thank you to everyone who donated to this great
cause!
September, 2010 – Children’s Hospital of WI – Fox
Valley
In September the Community Outreach Team, with
help from all of our generous MPI-WI members,
kicked off our 2010-2011 year by donating several
items to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin – Fox
Valley. We carried away bags full of infant
clothes, stuffed animals, crayons and markers,
activity books and games.
Our generous donations will go to the Pediatric
Inpatient Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,
and the Specialty Clinics. Hospital stays
are often long and may at times be somewhat scary
and painful. The Child Life staff helps
infants, young children, teens, and families cope
with a hospital stay by providing therapeutic
activities and interventions to assist in coping. It
is important that the environment there is as
close to the home environment as possible to allow
children to feel comfortable and encourage the
healing process.
2009-10 in Review
Brave soldiers, away from their families…children
fighting for their lives with devastating diseases…children
grieving from the loss of a loved one, and struggling
to understand…Haitian survivors of a
horrific earthquake. These are the people that
you all helped to this past MPI year. Our entire
Community Outreach team thanks you! Here are
all the ways you’ve helped:
In October 2009, we collected several supplies,
snacks, sports equipment, and goodies that were
shipped to our brave men and women serving in
Iraq and Afghanistan.
For the November Education Day, we collected
a mountain of toys that Mrs. Claus (aka MPI
member Patricia Kemner) distributed to the children
hospitalized near Wausau.

A thank you from Soles4Souls
Soles4Soles has a simple
mission: To impact as many lives
as possible with a gift of shoes.
Stan's — Fit For Your Feet
would like to take this opportunity
to thank you personally for joining
us during our Share-A-Pair Shoe
Drive by collecting shoes on behalf
of Soles4Souls. It is only because
of compassionate people like yourself
that we were able to collect footwear
to help those in need. Through the
combined efforts of many people,
25,000 pairs of shoes were collected
this year!!
A portion of the shoes collected
will be given to Repairers of the
Breach, a local not-for-profit organization,
helping people in need of a fresh
start. Soles4Souls will distribute
the shoes you donated to the people
of Haiti and Chile and other victims
of disaster and those living in
poverty.
So once again, thank you for your
kindness.
Sincerely,
— Jim Sajdak, President
